STORY BY MARQUIS BARBOUR, FNN REPORTER, BLOW PIERCE BUREAU.
February 28, 2013. Andre Romelle Young, also known as Doctor Dre, was born on February 18, 1965 in Compton, California. I think that Doctor Dre is ahead of his time because he has accomplished a lot in his time. He has put several new rappers in the game. Doctor Dre works with and put some now famous people in the music industry like NWA, Ice Cube, Xzibit, Eminem and 50 Cent. He is also one of the main pioneers of street-conscious rap.
Doctor Dre is one of the greatest American record producers, rappers, and businessmen. In 2009 Doctor Dre produced and co-hosted a performance on the single “Crack a Bottle” made by Eminem and the record made 418,000 downloads in the first week. I found out he started Beats Electronics. He came so far with his new headphones,”Beats by Dre”, that made over 100 million dollars last year. He is a figure in the popularization of the West G-funk. G-funk is one of my favorite styles of rap music. Doctor Dre is worth about $ 250 million.
Doctor Dre’s first group was the World Class Wreckin’ Cru from 1984-85. He has come a long way since his old time rap days. Doctor Dre is now focusing on artists and new albums. In 2001, he produced Marshall “Eminem” Mather’s Grammy winning song, “The Real Slim Shady”. That song earned over 1.76 million just on the first week alone. That is a great accomplishment. Doctor Dre continues to help artists with his business, his rapping career and creating new Beats headphones.
